Better'nPeanut Butter

I saw some "Better 'n Peanut Butter" at my local Trader Joes and thought I'd give it a try.

Unlike other "low fat" peanut butter products I've seen in the past, this one has signficantly less fat (85% less) and fewer calories. The other products I've seen simply subsituted sugar for fat, so an "health benefits" were dubious.

The main ingredient is "defatted peanut flour" whatever that is:

I never liked companues that say "dehydrated cane juice" instead of sugar. It strikes me as slightly dishonest. Sugar is sugar. Don't try to hide it. I'd be happier if there was less sugar in this product.

So, is it "better [than] peanut butter"? No. It doesn't taste nearly as good, especially when eaten plain on a sandwhich. However, it seems to work fine in peanut butter cookies. I've heard people recommend it for peanut smoothies...I haven't tried that yet, but I'd rather get some "peanut flour" by itself for a peanut smoothie.

I don't think I'll buy this product again. The taste just wasn't good enough for me, and it left a lingering aftertaste. However, taste is a very subjective thing, so you may want to give it a try.
